Lavender over smoke is the backbone of classic men's fragrance, and that is exactly what Winter is built on. The vanilla underneath is there to warm it, not to sweeten it. Cold citrus at the top, dry smoke at the base, and the whole thing stays sharp the entire way down.
It reads composed rather than pretty. If your problem with most vanilla fragrances is that they go soft and sugary within ten minutes, this is the one that does not.
The scent over time
First spray. Cold and dry. Frosted citrus and lavender open together, herbal and sharp, closer to a barbershop than a bakery.
Twenty minutes in. The smoke comes up and the vanilla arrives underneath it, cold, with the sugar taken out. Warmth without sweetness, which is the hard part to get right.
Hours later. Dry smoke and pale wood against the skin. The way a wool coat smells the morning after a fire.
What is actually in it

Lavender. Not the soap and sachet version. This is the fresh herb: green, dry, slightly camphorous, the smell of crushing the flower between your fingers. It is the note that has anchored classic barbershop fragrance for a hundred years, and it is what keeps this one cold.

Smoky woods. A fireplace two rooms away rather than a bonfire in front of you. Dry, faint and warm, and the reason this fragrance has a shadow to it.

Iced vanilla. Vanilla with the sweetness pulled out. Cool and almost mineral, closer to the smell of a vanilla pod than to anything that came out of an oven.

Vanilla bean. The real thing, dark and resinous. Closer to tobacco and leather than to frosting, which is what most people do not realise about actual vanilla.

Frosted citrus. Cold citrus peel. The sharpness of cutting into a lemon in a cold kitchen, all bite and no juice.
Wear it, or skip it
Season. Autumn and winter. Cold air holds this one beautifully, and heat flattens the frost right out of it.
Occasion. The office, cold mornings, travel, dinners, the holidays, and any day you would rather register than announce.

How long it lasts
More than 3 hours on skin and on clothing. How far it carries depends on your body chemistry. On some people it is a walk-by scent, on others it fills the room.
Why this is not just another body spray
Made for your hair too. Most body sprays are mostly alcohol, and alcohol is what leaves hair dry and brittle. Ours is formulated with a higher concentration of fragrance oils, plus aloe vera juice and specialty glycerin, to soften the effect of the alcohol. That is what makes it wearable from root to end.

Make it last longer
Spray onto skin that is still slightly damp, at the pulse points where you are warmest. Add one pass to your coat or scarf, because fabric holds fragrance for days and this one is at its best on wool. Do not rub your wrists together, it crushes the top notes.
For the longest wear, smooth Pulse Body Oil on first and layer Winter over it. Oil holds fragrance where bare skin lets it evaporate.
